A Picassoed frame… — a poem

A Picassoed frame
of reference — still
a compact truth —
lips over eyes except
before cries… or sighs.

A snapshut case
of paradigm missed
shift. Double clutched
in a clutch; doubletimed.
Two-timer in a clutch.

You don’t see things
my way.

You can’t.

  1. This snaps open and closed in so many ways: “A snapshut case / of paradigm missed / shift. Double clutched / in a clutch; doubletimed. / Two-timer in a clutch.” Terrific form=function. “Picassoed” is right. Poem and reality as cubist re-framing.

  2. “lips over eyes, except before cries..” indeed–you’ve painted the abstract from the fractured concrete, and come up with the innate components rearranged in the challenge of questioning what seems solid and unambiguous fact til it turns amorphous and slides into poetry. Well-crafted, well-imagined, and perfectly presented.

  3. Interesting and thought-provoking word play – especially like the end words in the 2 stanzas. The closing has a punch that makes you go back and read it again and again. Well done.
