Grilled and Pressed Panini-Like — a poem

I watch the two come together, burying
me — among other onlookers, stunned
by the buttered rhetoric (both sides,
please!), appearance of freshness —
as we head to the preheated greased
pan.

It does little to melt
one’s heart,

but it does liquify one’s resolve.
