“When the lips are silent,
the heart has a hundred tongues.”

– Rumi

These still moments roll

between you and I, charged

with blue voltage that feeds.

We are not filling the spaces

with devices and parlor tricks.

You open the spaces, smiling.

I span the spaces with fluttering –

wings carry our love tree to tree.

  1. Startling words – blue voltage and the last line of tree to tree – very fresh language. You describe something that is difficult to do without cliches and you do it with excellence. Marvelous poetry!

    • Thank you, Jill! I was looking for words that come out of… (cliche alert!). It’s hard to write about love and manage to say it in a fresh way. It’s worth the effort, though. I’m glad you enjoyed it!
