Poet (Un Duetto di Uno)

Nightingale

A nightingale didn’t sing —
she listened,
inhaled
a song —
a duet cast
adrift on a sea of air.

She tipped
her head, listened
to the familiar refrain.

She sang,
then listened
again.

She sings
the song she learned
listening
to her other voice.
