Faced with two challenges — NaPoWriMo wanted us to write a poem of ekphrasis (I’m leaving out the medieval marginal stuff, but, you know…), and the barkeep at dVerse Poets Pub gives us the Quadrille, using the word still.
This is my favorite part:
“dynamic explosive
still that haunts”

Thank you! I enjoyed making the words play… leaving out the punctuation to allow for creative ambivalence.

Wonderful wording, Charley. Also, I love your new subtitle!

Thank you! I changed the subtitle to challenge me as a poet. It is my own quote.

I wouldn’t want to be the umpire making some of those calls. I suspect the third baseman did not have his foot on the base in time. But I don’t know much about the game.

Still, isn’t it a stunning shot for its time? Cobb was safe… most of the time.

Love the photo! So much energy and life in that moment. Your words capture it well. My favorite part, “dramatic moment that breathes”. Other than hockey, baseball has to be my all-time favorite sport.

It’s always been one of mine. Trying to set the photo to words that capture its essence… well, it was… poetic. 🙂 Glad you enjoyed it.

Your words capture the moment better than any photograph, Charley. Especially captured by ‘dynamic explosive still’ the contradiction is perfect! Nice job 🙂

Thank you! I like that you addressed the poem. I’m challenging myself to be more of a poet. So, Maybe I’m getting closer to my goal.
